Unbeknownst to me, I had been banned by GC before I posted the Happy Valentine’s Day eCard here, so you couldn’t see it then. GC never told me when/why they did that or when they reinstated me.
The medical board ? They already know about her – she drives her patients crazy, then they have to go to the REAL psychiatrists. That’s how they drum up business, and Lucy gets a kickback on their fees ( that’s why she only charges 5 cents for her “services”- she makes up the rest on the back end ).
Fortunately, Chuck’s dad is most likely in the barber union, and they have the family plan coverage. He probably gets reimbursed for each 5 cent payment (with a 2 1/2 cent co-pay, I’m assuming). All of that hassle, and payment, for bad advice. But, Lucy must be the only doctor in the area in his provider group. Such is life. : )
???is it just me, or has any one else noticed lots of nice homages to Sparky and the Peanuts gang lately? its ben nice seeing how much Mr. Schulz has influenced modern comics.
Notice that there is really no setup and punchline to this particular strip. The whole thing is built on our familiarity with the characters: Charlie Brown’s insecurity and neurosis, Lucy’s arrogant forthrightness.
Unfortunately, Chuck’s dad wouldn’t be in the barber union, since there wasn’t one then. Also, he owned the barber shop and never bought health insurance. Chuck has to pay her bill with his allowance, which is being wasted.
Charlie Brown should just improve himself without Lucy’s help. He has to overcome his fears. inferiority complex, and all his other problems. He should listen more to Linus and Schroeder. Those are his real friends.

That means Lucy’s character is pretty much set, too.
