Many cats have their unfriendly moments. I had a sweet, gentle “lap cat” and yet sometimes he would smack me and run away, or almost-bite the caressing hand. Two minutes later he’d be back for more cuddles. Go figure.
Wow, stop, drop, and roll – fun stuff; then great animation and very astute comments. This is my first comic each day, and today I’ve been here for several minutes just enjoying. Dad when you get as old as I am, you won’t remember the sleepless nights – only the good times.

Aww, he’s only playing with Calvin, he likes him really.( See how pet owners always use this reasoning.)

I suspect the under 35 crowd will wonder about the 78 rpm reference.

Guess Hobbes didn’t feel like pouncing today. Never bug Hobbes when he’s a crummy mood.

Not even that. They choose to live with us for their own reasons. And if you don’t watch it, you end up paying rent to them!

I love the nearly wordless strip—it’s too bad that Mr. Watterson had to make the point in the last panel.

Hasn’t anyone scouted Hobbes for professional football?
