Transcript:
"Story Update: Stephan Pastis is on the run from Rat, who is upset at Stephan for shipping him to Siberia. Today, Stephan's travels bring him to Kansas City, Missouri. John: Stephan Pastis! What brings you to K.C.? Stephan: Hi, John Glynn, V.P. of my new comic strip syndicate. I've just come for a little visit. I was wondering if I could stay with you. John: Sure thing, Stephster...welcome to the syndicate! Stephan: Gee, thanks, John. And to show my appreciation, I've brought you a 'Stephan Pastis' mask. I thought it'd be funny. Here, try it on... John: Hahaha...I'm Stephan Pastis...I'm Stephan Pastis...how do I look? *kathunk* John: I don't think I want to be Stephan anymore. Rat: Sorry, sir. You looked like another rotund idiot I know.

Please, Hammer, Let’s Hurt ’Im: the new album by MC Rat.÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷I’m guessing that “The Stephster” doesn’t like Glynn. I wonder how many masks SP’s prepared, and how many people he’s targeted?

And for all these years, I thought it was the syndicate that hated a rat…
jnik23260 about 13 years ago
He won’t hit you without the mask because you look like Newt Gingrich!
Hillbillyman about 13 years ago
If I was famous and Steph knew me; Id fit right in.

Poor John Glynn (who’s a real syndicate editor, you know)! That’s what you get for handling the account of a nogoodnik like cartoon-Pastis! Of course, if former videos are any guide, John will have his revenge! —Or die trying!
Kaputnik about 13 years ago
Could have sworn that was Newt Gingrich. John Glynn, you say?

Pastis and Glynn have been friends for a long time…. and the guy obviously has a sense of humor.
They’ve made several funny videos to promote Stephan’s books, even when Pearls was still at United Features (Comics.com), and Universal (GoComics.com) was a rival syndicate.
THIS ONE was made about a year ago for “Pearls Blows Up.”
Hysterical … but be forewarned — maybe NSFW, due to expletives that are not replaced by !@#$%.

I remember an episode of the old Twilight Zone where this dying old man made his greedy relatives put on masks at Mardi Gras. When they took them off, their faces were permanently set in the images of the masks. If I were you Mr. Glynn, I wouldn’t have risked it.

Almost looks like Garfield and Calvin in the background. Are my eyes THAT bad?

All seriousness aside, is he really in/from KC? I ask only because that is where we are. (If I know, I can avoid Rat)
radicalrad about 13 years ago
There has to be a very bad pun in this strip. Too many goofy references: John Glynn. syndicate.mask. Kansas City Missouri. Haven’t got it yet.
TheSpanishInquisition about 13 years ago
Has everyone seen Stephan Pastis’s videos with John Glynn?
radicalrad about 13 years ago
Of course it could be a shameless promo for his new e book. But I still think there is a pun in there someplace. Got to be.

On his shelf I see a stuffed Garfield doll, a picture of Dilbert, a picture of Calvin, Charlie Brown, a Cul de Sac sign, two baseballs, and my favorite — two empty cans of beer.

Whack-a-Newt? smack a serial liar for civilization?
A_NY_Outlaw about 13 years ago
Mr. Glynn needs a Pastis mask as much as he needs a hammer to the head. Oooops wait- I guess he does!
Harryfan about 13 years ago
I can see Steph applying for diplomatic immunity over at the Family Circus.
