The “noodle incident” is the great untold story of Calvin and Hobbes. Here is Snoopy writing a story in 1994, two years after today’s Calvin and Hobbes strip was published:Click here: Peanuts (1994)

Thanks a lot to everyone who wrote nice comments yesterday. For those who thought that my long posting was supposed to be serious in nature, please go back and read the ending. I was writing in a humorous style that intentionally starts out sounding at least somewhat plausible but becomes progressively more far-fetched as it progresses. The risk with this approach is that if someone only reads the beginning of the posting, they may accidentally conclude that the entire posting is intended to be serious.

So far, this has been a serious posting on the subject of non-serious postings that are mistaken for serious postings. (No kidding.)For the future, my suggestion is that if you begin reading a long posting that appears to be deadly serious and you therefore fear that it will be seriously deadly to read, then before skipping over the rest of it and posting an expression of outrage regarding the outrageous posting, first jump to the conclusion so that you don’t accidentally jump to conclusions.

The noodle incident can be as crazy as the reader imagines it to be. All you need is the mindset of a six-year-old and the rest is done for you.

I hope the noodle incident didn’t involve Suzie, and wasn’t like the spaghetti incident in “Lady and the Tramp”.

Calvin should be able to work up a story ‘out of his noodle’, or maybe Catherine ‘Ziti’ Jones can help him!

Unbenownst to everyone else, Calvin most likely snuck some of the cafeteria spaghetti back into the classroom, put it onto the teacher’s chair, and she unwittingly… “Uh, it was some neighborhood kids… as a prank… er, ah… that is to say…” (class roars with laughter) “(Sigh) Take your seat, Calvin. Page 31, please.”

When commenting about Hobbes, it gets confusing. Are you talking about/to Hobbes the stuffed dummy or Hobbes the stuffed dummy. . . . . Never mind, I just figured it out.

If you write about that, Calvin. You may get top marks for being imaginative. I know it’s real but you can always exaggerate. You’re good at that.

I once wrote a story about a Magic Seashell when I was 9 years old and the teacher said it was the best one out of the class and she called my mam into the classroom and told her to frame it.

    And she did.

@sonnygreen: Yeah, it does get confusing. Whenever I make a comment about Hobbes, I’m not sure whether I’m talking about the comic strip character, or the comic strip character is talking about me.

While we don’t know what the “Noodle Incident” was we can be sure of three things, there was a ceiling fan, smoke, and an insurance claim of $3000 after the deductible.

Let me guess: noodle incident, “unvarnished” truth…at least made the noodles shiny and sticky and blended well with the parquet flooring. Too bad about Mom.

Was Calvin caught “canoodling” with Susie which he then vehemently denied ever happened . . . hence the whole “incident”???!!!

Hi GretchensMomYes, the “?width=350” command only works with strips that are on the GoComics list. That’s why I never post miniatures for other strips. You could always make a miniature of a non-GoComics strip by downloading the strip and resizing it to 350 pixels wide using some software, and then putting it into Photobucket and creating a link to it. But it’s probably not worth all the trouble. Also, I don’t know whether Photobucket would have restrictions on using copyrighted material. At least with the miniatures of GoComics strips, they are nothing but links to GoComics strips from within GoComics itself, and you aren’t working with a copy of the strip, so there is no copyright issue.Anyway, thanks for posting the strip — very funny.

@GretchensMom:I’ve found a way to post the miniature strip. It doesn’t do as nice of a job as GoComics, making some of the small text difficult to read, but it looks like it would still be acceptable. For your example, type < before and > after the following:img src=“http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff200/fv00125.gif” width=“350”Note that there is a space before widthHere is the result:
