My tortoise shell cat goes for walks with me. Not like a dog mind you – she darts from cover to cover, from under a bush to under a car, walks just behind for a few seconds. She also yowls when strange animals come too close to the house for her comfort. (She lives outside in a house with a heating pad.)

Have a cat and a dog, fun to swap the controller on occasion, but everyone knows in actuality, they control us.
