I went 4 years without cable, got it back recently and prob only watch about 4 hrs a week anymore. When I do watch, its a lot of Science, History, National Geographic, Discovery and AMC. I wish I could JUST buy those 5 channels, the rest are a waste.
Cable robs you but it is here to stay. People are addicted to tv and especially football and baseball .. they buy the huge screen tv’s to watch the games on.
An unsolicited plug for Twin Cities Public Television: Most nights it’s the best thing on, and when they have a reality show it actually deals with reality. And there are 3 channels.
The only problem is the “Music Specials You Were Sick of Three Years Ago” during pledge week!
If we could each just receive the dozens of channels we enjoy (and only pay for those) life would be simpler and cheaper. I would receive NO sport channels (FF through sports on the news) but there are at least 2 doz channels that I like.
I dropped cable about 3 years ago — too much to pay for too little content of interest. After the initial shock, I found that I didn’t miss having the TV on anymore.
I watch the internet! All my favorite shows are at my beck and call – I stop it whenever i want, play it over and over if i want, never worry about missing a show and for less than the price of one month’s worth of Directv, i bought a Roku and stream TV from my computer. Same with my daily newspaper . . . now i read my favorite comics without getting ink on my dainty fingers or piling up a bunch of papers for the landfill! Life is sweet!
I hate having to pay so much for so many channels that I never watch. If it was up to me I would cancel it completely, but my husband likes to watch tv. He can never believe that when he isn’t here the tv is never on.

Cable just gives you 1000 channels and nothing to watch anyway.

Cable subscribers should be able to choose the channels they want. Most of it is garbage and for a high $$$$$$

I want cafeteria cable – chose what you want and not have to pay for the whole menu.
