Onguard, if you have no point to make, why not just keep quiet? If name-calling is all you’ve got left, since facts are not on your side, I wouldn’t try so hard to call attention to it.
Wayne La Pierre, at a salary exceeding $900,000 per year has long made a mockery of not only the Constitution, but common sense. “Fast and Furious”, the now “conservative” gripe with Holder is the DIRECT RESULT of NRA actions to reject regulation of “military” weapons available on our streets. Period. It boils down to “crazy people” having ready access to these weapons and bullet-proof vests, that are, and HAVE BEEN for a long time, been used in committing crimes, from drug lords to those robbing a B of A in Los Angeles.
REGULATED arms and militias ARE called for in the Constitution. Technology has led to our regulating many devices not imagined by the founding fathers, like cars and aircraft. Why do we still ignore the technologic “improvements” in the deadly potential of firearms???
I have great respect for Mrs Gifferds and her recovery achievments, but that wouldn’t guarentee my vote. Is there any doubt someone would do to her what was done to Max Cleland during his nomination campaign?
Bruce: yes, I own and know how to use firearms. What concerns me about “lists” is this: A number of years ago I bought a semi-auto pistol. The “government” could only keep that record for 24 hours. The NRA sent me notices that i’d bought the weapon, and should join up to protect my name from being on a “list”!!! THEY got my information when the government had to “dump” the record??? Wayne LaPierre is a LOT crazier than Holder or any other government official, even Edwin Meese III, or Ashcroft, or Gonzales! And HIM knowing where my guns are makes me very, very, nervous!
The “gun lobby” has a lot more nuts hanging as low fruit than any element of government. We agree it appears on limiting “legal” magazines. We also agree “criminals and crazies” shouldn’t be armed, but it IS the unlimited, unregulated manufacture and sale of those same devices that make them available to “criminals”. Just as the OVER PRODUCTION of “prescription” drugs makes the black market so profitable to both drug companies, and criminals..

Too bad they don’t feel the same commitment to the rest of the Bill of Rights, particularly the First Amendment.

“Everyone forgets that Giffords was a gun rights activist.”
Ask James S. Brady whether getting shot in the head can change your position on “gun rights.”
