Has Mike already forgotten going through his mother’s closet with Lizzie or finding presents in the crawl space just last week? Or is he agog with wonder that Santa managed to get the presents from their hiding spots to the tree one day before Christmas? :)

I don’t know, at Mikes age I knew that Santa was Mom@ Dad. My mother says she tried to get me to believe, but I never did.Born sceptic.

As far as I can remember, Santa was always a fun game - don’t ever recall really believing in him. It was all about church in my family. Still, there was something magical about opening the presents Christmas morning that had nothing to do with getting stuff.

Mom always said Santa was real - and someday we would know who he was.

We used to sneak downstairs before we were supposed to, then one year Mom tied wires between the balusters, luckily only my sister got really hurt.

I could never understand why Santa got credit for things that mom and dad bought, If Santa and his elves made everything how come we had to buy them?

I knew these things at 10 years old. Sure spoiled the fun.

we always have at leat one gift to each from Santa - and the youngest now is 47.

One year, while we were still in college, I’d labeled a gift from santa to my brother. Now, as mom was the one labeling the santa gifts, i watched her puzzle over that gift for hours - she just couldn’t remember buying it - and i’d copied her exactly. i finally had to tell her :)

    Childhood Santa Story:

I was about 6, living in Central Ohio. When I woke up Christmas morn, it had snowed quite a bit. I looked out my bedroom window which looked over the back yard. The snow was absoutely pristine and unmarked except for…

Two long thin tracks and small punch marks between them running across the back yard.

No human footprints, no other marks. The dog hadn’t even been out. Later, when I went out, my foot prints were bigger than the punch marks.

I know my parents did it, but I still can’t figure it out, and they won’t tell me. It’s been 44 years and its my biggest Christmas memory.

    Wonderful story, celecca!

I’m not sure if I ever really believed in Santa, but the appearance of the presents under the tree was always magic anyway. Opening them of course was great, but there was also that “ah” moment of how pretty it all looked, the decorated tree and the wrapped boxes underneath.

I believed in Santa as a kid but I had questions about how he was able to deliver toys to every kid in the world all in one night.

My mom & dad taught us about the “spirit of Santa Claus” rather than him being a real person. We still enjoyed the mystique, but didn’t have the disappointment when we found out he wasn’t real. Still do, as a matter of fact.

I remember announcing to my parents that there was no Santa when I was about 7. They gently explained to me that, although Santa wasn’t a “real” person, that loving kindness and doing nice things for others was “Santa”. I still believe in Santa.

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel, etc. to all.

How does he do it? That s a life long question? Of course as we grow up we find the answer. Master Charge, Visa, Etc. That way we remember Chistmas longer. Thats the way many people do it. But as the Grinch said Christmas come with out all the bows, presents etc. Christmas is to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Which is far from the mind of many people Merry CHRISTmas to all

[sigh] Michael, how Santa does it is that “he knows when you’re awake.” Have you not been paying attention to that song at all?

He’s magic Michael. And like the song and comixavier says “he knows when you’ve been sleeping, he knows when you’re awake.”

Just saw Miracle on 34th Street, and I still believe!

I never lied to my son. I explained the game of Santa, Easter bunny etc. I told him the rules of the game and he loved the game and was never disappointed with the truth because he knew all along it was a game. When he was old enough I got presents from Santa as he played the game.
