I microwave mine in coconut oil and put melted butter and salt on it. Popcorn is considered health food if you use canola oil and don’t put anything on it. It is a whole grain.
I have crowns so can’t eat popcorn anymore anyway, but really the only way to eat it is with butter and salt. Otherwise it’s like eating Styrofoam pellets.
We buy the plain, cheap popcorn in a plastic bag with nothing on it. We then either air pop it (me) or pop it in a paper lunch bag in the microwave (husband). To do the latter, 3 Tbls in the bag, time needs to be adjusted for your microwave, the popcorn button does not apply here. We get plain, healthy popcorn with nothing on it. You can add whatever you want to it after the fact.

The very best tasting popcorn is popped in lard and served with melted butter in a great big bowl. You would never go back to “movie popcorn”!

News flash Janis, you can pop jar popcorn in the microwave with oil and margarine / butter. Melt the margarine first.
