Lena Paahlsson of Mora, Sweden, lost her wedding ring in the kitchen in 1995 and found it 16 years later, wrapped around a carrot growing in her garden! Virgil Harms has served as mayor of Paoli, Colo., USA for 50 years- having been elected repeatedly without ever facing an opponent! The Royal Mail Service of the United Kingdom uses approximately 2 million red rubber bands per day!

There was a time when I think most of those rubber bands ended up on the ground outside my house.

All 42 residents are probably related to Virgil. Nobody wants to run against Grandpa, Dad, Uncle Virgil, Brother etc….

Those exposed outside mailboxes make it too easy for thieves to steal your mail and subsequently your identity.http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=7740632

But can I ask a silly question? What are the red rubber bands used for? The U.K. is the land of my nationality and it intrigues me very much. I have had a pen-pal from England for almost 27 years now. She never mentioned this to me.

I remember another Ripley’s strip in which a woman lost her wedding ring when it fell into a river. Then found it sometime later in a fish she was cleaning!
