The early color TV’s from the 1960’s had terrible garish colors. My guess is that Earl’s TV is more like 20 years old and his daughter is exaggerating.

I watch most of my TV in my office. On a 13" that my wife brought to the wedding as part of her dowry (along with the car loan, the student loan, the…). Don’t see the need to step up to HDTV when the real problem is all the programs are just as good or bad as before HDTV. The quality of the program didn’t change.

My eyes are low-def as well, so I don’t really see what all the fuss is about. But I’ve got 4 of them of various sizes in the house.

My eyes and ears are both lo-fi. Grew up with a Philco console with an AM radio and a turntable that played 78’s. No TV in house till ’64.

Growing up I had a TV that had a record player on top, and the screen was behind 2 sliding doors. I don’t remember the brand name. Does anyone know?

I remember watching color TV about 1956 at a friend’s grandma’s. The NBC peacock came on the screen before the program.

I expect to replace my 1992 vintage Panasonic soon.
The picture is getting darker and darker by the week.
I’ve tried to turn up the “brightness” on many of today’s
programs, but, for some reason, that just don’t work!

They cost too much. BTW, my old TV (which as old as the one in the strip) works just fine with Dish Network, thank-you.
