I like raman noodles for dinner, especially with some carrots, and a hard boiled egg in the dish.

Looks like Burl/Joy are cutting back in anticipation. Burl, of course, has beaten Crustwood U-Stor-It to the punch; he cut back on his hours years ago! Joy was his mentor—she has a PhD in doing very little.I don’t know about Dale’s employment, but he’s at risk at his age and he is on their “list” already. It’s very dangerous to be 50+ and poorly considered by your boss.Erin go braless!

I guess all that’s left for me to say is “Bottom of the Morning, Crustwoodians!”

They could hardly cut back on Burl’s hours at work, cos when he’s there, he doesn’t DO any work. They could cut back on his pay…or give his job to that kid who actually knows something…

But it’s such a dead-end job the bright kid would leave, and they’d have to train someone else, so they’d pick another loser who they figure would stay…. round and round and right back to Burl.He hasn’t set the place on fire yet, so they keep him.The Peter Principle at work.

    Meanwhile —

You’re looking well dressed for the holiday, Marg!

@ Mikie, Dale is the parts manager at Crust Plumbing. A scary thought when you realise he’s the one who sold the parts to the contractor who might be working in your kitchen.

They only keep him cos he’s old enough to remember that some faucets have washers… even if he can’t tell one from an O-ring.The young guys at Home Depot work harder and longer — but one actually told me once that I couldn’t just buy a washer for the faucet stem I had in my hand….. cos it was a “cartridge” and I had to buy a new one, all complete.

Another had never heard of a faucet seat..

So maybe Crust Plumbing sticks with tried and true stupidity instead of trying to find a kid who’s ever seen a toilet flapper.

GymShoe — up here in Northern CA it’s been raining all WEEK. Where ya been?BTW I want to apologise for Dazz getting drunk and thinking you were a girl!

And Dazz … honestly have you never met a man who likes high heels?? My goodness — just look at Leaky’s comments yesterday!

Even with the cut-back, I doubt he’ll actually earn his day’s wages.

So far you’re pretty lucky Dale. The next thing that will expect of you is to actually do something while you are there.

GymShoe and Dfowensby – that’s why when I go out of town for St. Patrick’s Day, I make sure to stay gone overnight. And in the U.S.A., EVERYBODY is an Irish Catholic today!

And Dazz, I never said the point of buying the shoes was attracting men… I merely expressed surprise that you thought someone who commented about liking them must be female.

In my experience, that would be more of an indicator of being male!

No one has commented on my lovely celtic dress (which I appliqued in Celtic knots of mixed colors of the same silk twill as the rest of the dress). It is worn with my chemise of silk batiste and the “veil” is lined (2 layers of silk twill, which hangs so heavy in back that I tried to balance with some MOP beads aroung the front. I bought the buckle and belt end (reproductions in cast bronze) but I cut my belt from a rough piece of leather and after securing it, bound in red silk floss. I used this avatar just for the Irish day.

@Leaky,I would have worn it to any of the many Irish events if I attended one today, but it IS from the 10th C and I originally wore it to a celebration recreating the Danelaw wedding feast, for which I also painted a mural on fabric in the style of the Bayeux tapestry depicting the events of the wedding. I also made my leather shoes after a 2 day class and I love them so much that I’m making more – I love wearing silks and leather shoes that fit perfectly! Sorry you don’t appreciate it. I do enjoy costumes.

Re: noodles: I never tried Ramen because they are generally disparaged. I have made Cavatelli using ricotta and fresh basil and bought some more ricotta to make more this week – probably tomorrow while I also parboil and blanch some yams – YUM! GN!
