The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan didn't have any paved roads until the 1960s! The fine hair on insects and spiders ask like tiny motion detectors, allowing them to sense minute vibrations in the air! Women of the Dani Tribes and West Papua, Indonesia, have a tradition of cutting off finger segments to mark the death of a loved one!

It doesn’t bear thinking about. We’ve had problems here with a number of so called honour killings. Cultural madness that we have laws to prevent, thankfully. I’m all for culture and tradition but some of them make no sense and go way too far.

As far as I know they aren’t and offences against British laws are treated as offences regardless of what Sharia law might say even if it was done in their own communities. Though why they’re allowed to start their own parliament beats me. It has no standing in law anyway. But we do keep hearing about the odd character who wants to enforce sharia law throughout the country. But if you oppose the notion then the pc brigade start squealing. Sometimes it’s a crime to British in the UK.

Forgotonia is at least a bit more advanced than Bhutan. My brother in law paid a visit once from South Carolina, and we went out to visit kin in the country. He said, you know – this is the first time this car has been on gravel!I responded, This is Hancock County, Illinois – you’re lucky to find gravel!

That was in the 80s. We are now on the four-lane 110 from Chicago to Kansas City. (All 4-lane except for the gap in Macomb, Il.) Still miles of dirt roads, mainly abandoned and no longer maintined.

Let’s be fair… I’ve been watching a lot of early Stooges stuff lately- they are constantly showing sections of LA with nice houses… and dirt roads.
