Bucky: I've decided what I'm going to call my invention. I call it the D.U.S.I. Satchel: Doozy? Bucky: It's short for dual-use scratch instrument. It's a back-scratcher attachment for a blender. Satchel: ...It doesn't sound like the safest thing... Bucky: Oh, it's quite a D.U.S.I.

“Doozy” originally came from the Dusenberg car, to mean anything that looks spectacular but turns out to be very bad. So Bucky’s probably right.

As Lauren said,“doozy-something excellent”“doozy-a wonderful, or excellent thingNOTHING to do with “turns out to be very bad”.

Not sure of the original meaning of “doozy” but the Duesenberg was a beloved classic car that was anything but bad.

I still think that D.U.S.I. could win a few rounds of Battlebots.

…and wouldn’t Bucky be confident that his invention was the Duesdenberg (or Cadillac) of blender attachments?

It’s wonderful to wake up and be entertained by the comics and informed by the commentators. I never knew that about the word “doozy”, though I often used it. Thanks.,br>It should be interesting to see Bucky"s invention in action. Find a safe place Satch!.

Bucky – Ron Popeil called – said to keep your day job – and to stop inventing – I could not understand the rest – he was sobbing miserably..

Today, Duesenbergs sell for well into the seven figures. Jay Leno has several, and once paid $10,000 for just the cylinder head for a Duesey straight-8 engine!

Is the blender an Ostracizer?

What he needs to invent is a silent vacuum cleaner. Satch can be the test dummy.

Buck is gonna be scrambling for the off switch when that thing gets going.

In reply to ODDBALL 12 hours ago, there was a strip a few years ago in which Rob alluded to the fact that Bucky was not quite “whole”, meaning he’s already been neutered.

Thanks for the origin of the word doozy. I get as much or more out of the comments as the strip.
That being said: I want to see Bucky’s DUSI in operation.

I had just looked up the word “doozy” on Webster’s the other day. It means ‘an extraordinary one of its kind.’ But remember extraordinary can be good or bad. There is a certain Nestlé ice cream pop called “Itsakadoozie” which is sold in Canada and Walt Disney parks in the US.

Huh … dictionary.com gives two spellings of “doozy”, each with a different definition:
doozy: something excellent
doozie: something that is extraordinary or outstanding of its kind
Personally, I’ve never heard of a “doozie”, but apparently it exists.
