This occurred to me later: The cow jumping over the moon was a hoax, a conspiracy. The whole thing was filmed on a soundstage at Wright- Patterson to get an edge on the Soviets during the cold war. If you look closely you can see the flag move because someone opened the door.The best I can come up with.
