4-15/16 - 1-7/9 = Ok... Let's see. The numerator is... The number. No, wait... That's the, uh, denominator... Hang on. So you multiply... No, that can't be right. My teacher says we learn this stuff because we'll need it later in life. No kiddin'! One day you'll have kids, and you'll have to help them with their homework!

Poor kid. Racking the brain of a six year old might make his hair fall out. And he only has about a eight hairs now.

I copied the first fraction wrong at first ( 15/16). Try that one in your head!

Probably too common nowadays, schooling and simple math.I have to cry, and laugh… when I had a few purchases at a Supermarket and one item was taxable. I had my money ready, exact change. When the cashier rang it up, I gave her the money. (NO sexism or racism ar any ism here!!!)she looked at me in unfeigned total amazement…I know 99.9% would simply ring it up, I had no expectation that she would have or could have added in her head – there would have been nothing of any note had she just rung up the purchase… It was the jaw-dropping amazement that got me…

I’m late to the party, but I agree! As a nurse, I use metrics all of the time, and I love the metric system!
