Frog applause has been very educational for me. I’ve lead a sheltered life and don’t come across words like excrescence and merkin. It has broadened my outlook and vocabulary. A lame salute to you with humble respect.
I’ve already marked Raisinets™ and Milk Duds™ with the Old Wolf Stamp of Approval. Beyond that, a number of candies really float my boat, some of which are hard to find.
Aero™Zero™Rocky Road™Toffifay™Idaho Spud™Charleston Chew™Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy™Whoppers™Nuts™ (Found only in the UK and Europe – nougat with hazelnuts, covered with chocolate.)
Vlad must’ve had a wild weekend, the count on FB went up by one death and three maimings. There is also a new dismemberment stat, some poor FA reader is now half a limb deficient. I guess I just don’t get invited to the kinds of parties that Vlad gets invited to……fortunately.
I like most forms of dark chocolate. I’ll even bite into a piece of baking chocolate occasionally. My attraction to things black, bitter and unsweetened may explain my appreciation of Frog Applause.
I like dark chocolate Kit Kat bars when I can find them.
I like a good beer. One reason I enjoy living in Wisconsin is that almost any supermarket presents a great selection of excellent locally-brewed beers (freshness really affects flavor).
Cheese – especially blue cheese – and fresh fruit. I like blue cheese with a comice or bosc pear. Aged provolone, brick or gouda goes pretty will with beer.
Medjool dates (deglet noor dates are ok, too). I like to eat these with almonds, walnuts or pistachios.
I bake quick breads to enjoy with afternoon tea. My favorite is cranberry-orange. When my rhubarb is ready next month I’ll make a rhubarb bread with sesame seeds.
Dina Gralla was a German actress; the blog picture shows her in her role as Mimi in the 1932 movie “A Car and No Money.” So far I haven’t found anything about the movie’s plot, much less why her character dressed like a bellhop (or, just as likely, a theater usherette.)

It’s described as a giant quartz crystal mined in Arkansas.

And I’d forgotten how nice that Prophet-5 intro was on the Hall and Oats tune. Thanks!

It was nice to see Eraserhead featured for the 2nd time on the blog (that I can remember). Strange that both of them involved the In Heaven song.
