In October 2011, officials in Lodz, Poland, called on Catholic priests to bless the city's manhole covers in an attempt to stop them from being stolen by scrap metal thieves! Acanthephyra Purpurea, the firebreathing shrimp, blinds and distracts its predators by spewing out a glowing chemical cloud! The Kingdom Tower, planned for construction and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has a budget of more than US $1 billion and, when finished, will become the tallest man-made structure at more than 1 kilometer (3280 feet) in height!

I wonder..what are the statistics for earthquakes in that area? Is there bedrock under the sand? At some point the physics of taller and taller buildings may not be safe, although it looks reasonable and safe ‘on paper’. There are so many variables to take into consideration. I’ll stick to visiting buildings the height of the Empire State Building, and lower.

Didn’t we try to build a tower in that region years ago. From what I read, it didn’t work out very well.

Great comments today!
I wonder if, after the covers were blessed, there was a drop in their theft.

will they include infrastructure for this tower or, like in Dubai, will they have hundreds of trucks, daily, hauling away sewage for treatment?

Well, the good news is that they’ll run out of oil soon, and they’ll rule over a penniless, stone-age desert!

How silly, blessing man hole covers! The Catholic Church has always given true Christianity and true Christians a bad name!

Won’t the top of that tower sway in the air some?
