How do you manage to shoot a nail into your brain in the first place?. Its not like a nail gun is small and unnoticeable and the ones I’ve used had to be pressed against a firm surfavce before they’d fire.

I thought all kamikazi pilots died by definition.

I saw a TV program on the Military Channel that spoke of German pilots that flew thier plains into US bombers trying to stop them, didn’t work very well..\\//_

In the original novel, one of the main characters, Tiger Tanaka the head of Japanese Intelligence, had also trained as a Kamikaze pilot.

in 1972 I was stationed @ Yakota AFB, Japan in d old kamikaze barracks upon arrival…then they sent us to Vietnam; guess d ol’ majic was still there, no?

it was a last gasp attempt to stop the advance of the huge U.S. juggernaut advancing relentlessly towards them. even if a few typhoons magically appeared , it would have delayed the inevitable outcome. Japan was starving ,outgunned and was virtually defenseless

He HAD to have only been “trained,” because when they took off on a mission, they weren’t expected to return, to the point that it would have been disgraceful for them to do so. Some kamikaze planes were rigged to explode if a pilot attempted to land them after they’ve taken off.

I think the more interesting story is not that a man accidentally shot a nail into his brain. It is that he discovered it later. Was it when he took his brain out to clean it, or what?

Well, I recalling reading somewhere about at least one Kamikaze pilot who was fished out of the water by the ship he had missed hitting moments before.

Waitaminnit, how did this guy shoot a nail into the back of his own head??
