Not only a Dick Tracy reference, but also a shout-out to anyone who remembers the “Gasoline Valley” parody of this strip in the old MAD comic book (way before it became a humor magazine).One of the running gags in the MAD parody was that the Skeezix character was called “Skizziks,” and the reader was constantly being reminded that his name “spelled backwards is skizzikS” throughout the story.

“Everybody knows ‘Skizziks’ spelled backward is ‘Natures’!”

(For those who are not old enough to remember, there used to be a laxative called “Serutan”.)

Reminds me of a certain Superman character who did not like it when you spelled his name backwards. Anyone remember his name? Say “Mr. Mxyzptik.”

Y’all know that the kitty ends up being one of Superman’s super villians. Superman has to say “Skeezix” in order to get rid of him.
