Of course it’s more than a steak of similar weight. It started out as meat like the steak and then had most of the moisture removed so it weighs a fraction of what it did. So it isn’t going to be any cheaper than the meat it started out as plus the labor and energy it took to make it.It’s really easy to make so so just get that steak (though cheaper cuts work great) and make it into jerky yourself.

Check the price and number of ounces on a package of jerky. It is more expensive than a decent steak from a butcher shop.
