Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
The Crustwood Coffee Club has sure been deserted the last couple of morningsâŠ.(âDesertedââŠhmmâŠ. that coulda been a punâŠ.donuts, pie, you know⊠but⊠it wasnât.}I canât get the magnified image tonight. Enlarging the low-res one doesnât let me read the movie title or see some of the detailâŠ.But one âdetailâ you canât miss at any resolution s that these guys shouldnât be paid at all, much less overtime.
Every minute they work is âovertimeââŠ. cos itâs long past their usefulness on the job.And worse, their smug smiles say they KNOW it, and they think theyâre pulling one over on their employers. AAAGGGHHHâŠ
I gotta sleep.. should be home by the time I post on Mondayâs comics, MargâŠ.Toodle-oooBTW nice picture. Was trying to figure out that little creature (?) yesterdayâŠ. :)
I had no problem with the movie title and it goes with Burlâs shirt. You Only Live Once, Die Another Day (on Ice, of course). I like that the chair is being protected from VO5 (I still use a little dab of that). And Twinkies?! Dales shirt changed case, and I also wondered if Timmy was saying part of Daleâs speech.
I thought at first that Burl is getting Time and a half for the harrazzment of the time management consultant. One engineering office here hired one of those for a week and he interviewed each of us. I told him that the biggest waste of time in that company was all the meetings they have to little or no purpose. Like one Dilbert strip, they could even have a meeting to plan a meeting⊠The boss of that place made it seem like we were living a Dilbert strip.
@Dave- then there must be more like that- sadly it does not surprise me. The last one in IL was an exception. That office Grumman Butkus in Evanston was so well run (winning awards AND making money) that I only left for the weather here. Now that I find myself retired and will be 75 this year, I think I chose well in spite of having some flakey bosses here. The one in particular was so bad that his Jr partner âretiredâ and took a job in another firm (but his new boss did not want women, being a middle easterner).
Very welcome! Iâm watching the RT Hawks right now. Their 3 eggs have not quite begun to hatch yet as predicted (not even the little pip in the shell).
I donât imagine those storage places NEED a high quality of employees in general. The factory workers in the places where I designed equipment and did time studies were usually hired from temp places who stocked those with little talent or ambition (like Burl Penny) but they were still glad to lose that one job that I eliminated when I designed that machine.
For Peteâs sake.. lighten upâŠ. When the CEO can get 20 Million for the easiest job of all⊠these 2 guys have it just rightâŠ. their way of getting evenâŠâŠ ! ! !
I am proud to say I always earned my pay (doing a days work or more for my dayâs pay) and often promised more for lots of overtime that was never delivered. My BF and I have that old fashioned work ethic in common â I think it may have been a trait of the middle classes from our generation, born in the 1930s.

In other words, Timmy, there is no difference in their minds, you work slower in either instance.

not sure which is more confusing, his expanation, or the extra âconnectionâ to the word bubble that seems to point to Timmy.
I wonder if the word âANDâ should read âTHENâ.

Any important, technical, or additional work must be done on overtime.

Timmy needs to run away from home. Heâs been there too long when he can predict what those ninnies are going to say.

I will say- every place in Chicago area I worked (except Zenith) was run more efficiently than any place in Phoenix.

Timmy would do better being raised by Gypsies in a sideshow.

Not to worry about Timmy â heâs smarter than the rest and therefore not surprised at Daleâs answer.

Oh, Iâd love to be their boss for just one day, but it wouldnât take me that long to clear out the Crustwood deadwood.

marg, Iâd get it done before lunch. Then I could tender my own resignation in the afternoon, knowing I did what I set out to do.
