Homo sapiens, Latin for "wise man," have been on the Earth about 200,000 years.
The Earth itself is about 4.5 billion years old.
Once a year, homo sapiens remember the Earth and pledge to go easy on it.
"Wise man" indeed!

Happy Earth Day. Give a plant a home, and stay out of your car for 24 hours.

“homo sapiens” is singular, not plural. Bad English when you don’t know Latin.

Homo sapiens, in his arrogance, so often forgets that he cannot destroy the planet. He can only destroy his ability to live on it. The planet can carry on without us and might replace us with homo sapienser.

Ah, folks. I think it’s time we all just looked around and saw what needs to be done and did it. I don’t think worrying about the correct form of a word is in that list of what needs to be done. If you don’t care about the other species that are suffering and dying because of the greed and selfishness of humans, care about the humans who are dying in areas of extreme drought, who are losing their homes to rising seas and tornadoes. Is caring for the earth and its inhabitants arrogant? That’s surely a strange idea.
