A squirrel once shimmied down our wire like that, and his tail got caught where the wire wraps around the hook that holds the feeder. He was squealing for all he was worth. I grabbed some heavy gloves and a ladder and was trying to work it loose (he wasnât cooperating). I saw him eying my gloved hand and pulled my thumb back just before he bit into the leather. Finally, I got the tail and wire partially untangled and he pulled his tail out, leaving a large tuft of fur behind. A fun day, maybe a half inch from getting rabies shots.
When a squirrel gets inside it slimes up the whole thing so it has to be cleaned before dried and refilled for the birds. Glad we have very few of them here. I watched my baby hawks on Cornell Uâs marvelous bird cam get a piece of grey squirrel (or similar) for lunch today. 2nd of 3 eggs hatched today so we have 2 fluffy babies in the nest (FABULOUS camera work).

Rose should have Jimbo BBQ the pest. When the other squirrels see that, they might leave the feeder alone.
