Good for you, Millar and Hinds. Bobby was so arrogant that he thought the Arkansas state police would cover for him. He deserves nothing but contempt. Any team who thinks about hiring him should think again. Bobby will be sure to betray and embarrass them.
Oh, the irony. The coach they’ve hired to replace Petrino accepted an offer from another school while his current team was playing in a Bowl game! And now he’s leaving his current school—Weber State—only 4 months after accepting their job. Has Arkansas not learned their lesson? If you hire someone with no professional loyalty, he may not be loyal in ANY aspect of his life.
itsjustb, but the colleges only care about winning. Because winning is what brings in the big bucks. I do not see that any div 1 college has any morals when it comes to winning football or bball. OTOH, IMO, the NCAA is going to fail in the next few years as college presidents appear to be getting really tired of their niggeling rules, so many that all colleges are doing something illegal. Finally. At what point do the players decide that they are being taken advantage of? I have seen way to many players at the college level driving around in cars that I(even having worked over 40 years) could never afford. Yet in this blatent case of someone giving the players money/apartments/cars, the NCAA seems to be totally absent. Of course if the NCAA did decide to enforce the rules about giving money to players or their familes, there would be no div 1 players left.
Petrino will wind up somewhere else. If we’ve learned nothing else about college sports, it’s that there are plenty of schools who could care less about what their coaches or athletes do as long as their teams win games and pack the stands. Look at how many jobs Lou Saban had in his career, some lasting only weeks until some other gig opened up. Look at Fresno State hiring Jerry Tarkanian even though Tark had proven at Long Beach State and UNLV the rules meant nothing.
When arrogant people crash and burn (well, not so much literally burn as literally crash…..) it’s hard NOT to satirize them. I’ve been looking forward to this story arc and so far it’s a winner.
