Ernesto: This is the publication that we at Ernesto Lacuna Picto-Fictions are most proud of - "Grow Up! How to Attain Adulthood and Power in Just 30 Days." It was produced with the assistance of Future Adults of America and it's packed with advice on how you can be an adult today and stop wasting valuable time on childish activities! There's even an adult humor section! Here's one, "How many adults does it take to change a lightbulb?" Guess. Guess! Petey: Can't I pick at my lunch in peace?

I know how you feel, Petey.

Ernesto’a lacuna is Childhood, for he has put away the things of a child far too soon. Ernesto is too earnest. Pick, Petey, pick for your sanity!

Or more likely,
Lacuna: The surname that results when a non-Spanish speaker misunderstands the Spanish surname Laguna which also means lagoon or small lake.

I don’t mind reading lots of text if it’s good, like Lynda Barry;s best. Ernesto is plain annoying. He’s not supposed to be enjoyed.

Some people think that just because it’s a comic, they don’t have to know how to read. Learn to break the rules. You get betel results.

Four adults. One supervisor, two to turn the stool and one to hold the lightbulb.

Sorry, I ignore comic strips where the word balloons take up more space than the artwork:(

“So, at this point, no one else has empirical evidence of Him?”
It’s unclear. Others are aware of Ernesto, but it’s possible that Petey’s imagination is strong enough that its figments may be shared.

Speak for yourself – I love reading the text. One of my favorite parts of Richard’s strips is the clever writing (though I also dig the brilliant drawings, of course). Ernesto and his elaborate speeches crack me up.

“How many adults does it take to change a light bulb?”
“Just one, of course. Don’t be childish.”
