Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for April 27, 2012
Transcript:
Ernesto: So, Peter, may I ask what sort of comic books you're producing? Petey: Well, I draw, a comic book, then Andre draws one. Then we do it again. It's like a club - Ernesto: What? You mean, artisanally created single-copy comics with no distribution? What a waste of time! FAUGH! Petey: I am so glad he's imaginary.

Or is he?
killacowinWA almost 13 years ago
Nah, he’s not. That tall girl Petey likes talked to him once.

Either way, he got rid of Ernesto, and that’s what counts.

i like ernesto’s t-shirt – self-promotion is everything! and isn’t this the first time anybody – let alone petey – has admitted ernesto is imaginary?

Could be, the tall girl is imaginary as well. I know lots of girls are.

It’s hard to imagine that Petey hasn’t made a cartoon about Ernesto, that how it’s done isn’t it Richard?

Of course Ernesto is imaginary! Mr. Thompson said so himself in the third panel. (Although he misspelled faux.)

Ernesto moves too much to be a subject in Petey’s comics.

I’d think of getting my imagination wiped clean if I were you, Petey.

I think this is pretty much how my family & friends feel about my comics. Unfortunately… they aren’t imaginary.

Real or imaginary, Ernesto speaks to Petey’s fears and insecurities—and they are many! Perhaps, in the end, Ernesto is good for Petey….……………………………………………………………………………………BTW, be sure to check out the Blog essay, “Ernesto”!

I love Ernesto’s short underneath his cardigan. Double Ernesto!

1) If he was imaginary, he wouldn’t be so obnoxious. You control what you imagine unless you’re sleeping.2) If other kids have seen him then he’s not imaginary.
