Thatababy: That's funny I thought you just said you watched 'The Little Mermaid' on the way to school. It' true!!
Girl: We have a DVD player in our car!
Boy: Me too! I'm gonna watch "Toy Story" on the way home!
Thatababy: My parents are luddites!
Not me, but the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17770171
According to the article, King or General Ludd was actually mythical, though the name may have come from a man named Ned Lud (not a political or military or religious leader, though).
DVDs in the car? What will they think of next?Bring back the good ol’ days;choruses of “Are we there yet?” interspersed by songs like “99 beer bottles on the wall”
No, Baby, your parents are good people for not turning you into a zombie who can’t endure a 20 minute ride without entertainment. We’ve travelled long trips with our kids ever since the oldest was 9 months, and have never had a DVD player in the car. Granted now they have screens in the airplane seats for overseas trips, but they weren’t there when they were babies. I’m happy to say that my kids are very capable of entertaining themselves without electronics.
I stand corrected. I wasn’t sure on all the particulars. I like most of our modern convenieces and technology. I have no use for a smart phone. I just want to make and receive phone calls. Oh yeah, I almost forgot….. SMARTY PANTS!!
