As much as I like hockey, I will not watch when the game is consumed by fighting and mean play. If I want to watch such absurdity I’ll tune in the WWF.
And don’t forget the AHL of MANY years ago…the Baltimore Clippers. Went to lots of their games.
what a week of playoff games…it was like that movie slap shot. bench clearing brawls, fights, scuffles, and too many not called penalties (no offsides call in the flyers game, tripping, goalie interference, and pummeling that rangers player while he was lying down on the ice). …NHL, bettman, shanahan, do something substantial.
Violence: the one consistence thing that America so fondly teaches its children. No wonder the rest of the world see’s us as a bunch of deprived A. Holes as civility and common sense is no longer one of our traits or faults… as we no longer possess, as a Nation, either.
The Saints scandal shocked us, but let’s face it, fans love to see and hear about blood and gore. Some of them really seem to think pro sports are there so they can live their repressed violence through them in a world that’s gone “too s!ssy” for them (as they probably call it).
One of the many things great fans do that ruin modern sport.

If the NHL coupled a conceal carry rule with a stand your ground rule the fighting would stop.
