Yet another reason, if one is seeking for a reason, not to eat grapefruit. (I always found it too bitter, except for pink grapefruit, sprinkled with sugar.)
I’m a produce manager at our local grocery store. People will ask me “How are the grapefruit? Are they sweet?”. I hate the smell and taste of most citrus fruit (long story). I have to say…“Uhhhhhh….sure. They are great”. Although I hate them and don’t eat them. Actually I usually say I don’t eat them.
I have grapefruit growing in my yard and they are sweet enough for my taste; this is just about the end of the season however, starting to get over-ripe (too sweet).
My youngest grandson had some last time he was here and his mom covered it with sugar. I never use sweetner on my fruit, tho’ I use a packet of stevia in my hot cocoa. Also use stevia if I drink the juice of a lime (with some ice water).
Don’t any of you slice the grapefruit into segments prior to eating? I always did that for my late wife, and popped a maraschino cherry on top for decoration.
I hate grapefruit whether it’s pink or yellow. But my two older kids always loved them. They’d eat all the sections and then squeeze the juice into a cup and drink it down.

As my father used to say, “There’s more to a grapefruit than what meets the eye”

sugar doesn’t sweeten grapefruit, but salt does. sprinkle a little on top and there is yummy! (seriously, try it)

My dad used to put salt on watermelon…It really wasn’t that bad….I wouldn’t say it makes it sweeter though..
