    True. School teaches kids life skills — the “lessons” are hard, and often unpleasant — that are in their way more important than anything taught in the classrooms.

    This day’s installment shows that Joe can be as witty and insightful as Ruthie. It’s just a good thing that, although Ruthie is the main character, her supporting cast gets some exposure too!

    Spain colonized much of what is now the United States long before there were Dutch or English colonies in the New World.

    I went to High School in Texas. Some of my classmates families still live on land that was originally deeded to them by land grants from the King of Spain in the 1700’s.

    Hispanic, yes, illegal, no.
