Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for May 26, 2012
Transcript:
Ah! The newspaper! Let's see if they got my name right this time! Flip flip "Notice: The little league ballplayer misidentifies as Not Wright was subsequently misidentified as Knot Wright. His correct name is Nut Wright." They're getting closer! Now they're just messing with me.

The wright thing to do is switch your newspaper, Nate.

Try spelling it out to them the next time. Someone at that paper is hard of hearing. Or write a letter to the editor with the correct spelling.

lisebrouillette over 12 years ago
Actually, I saw a version of the same happen when I was in high school.
We were in charge of the student newspaper, a boo-boo was made on the front page title, and FOUR TIMES we had to send it back to be corrected – with the mistake coming back different and worse every time!

simpsonfan2: Nothing beats Harry Von Zell on national radio, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Hoobert Heaver. Later , Von Zell was announcer on the George Burns and Gracie Allen show. When Von Zell would make a joke at Burns expense, the retort was always, “Do you want to go back to work for Mr. Heaver?”
The only competition to that was a sign-off for the NBC Symphony that made three tries at Arturo Toscanini before surrendering with, “Your announcer has been Ben Grauer – remember that name, you may never hear it again.”

Nate, if you’ve looked at news sites (remember how your buddy Teddy googled about your favourite artist, Rusty Sienna?), you’d know that many of the writers for them:
don’t check their factsdon’t check their math (I’ve seen lots of examples where they convert miles/kilometres incorrectly)So why do you expect them to spell your name right (no pun intended)?
