Transcript:
Brutus: Watching our team play another ball game, I see! Wilberforce: I try to watch all our games! Brutus: You don't know how lucky you are to be able to do that! When I was your age, many of the games weren't televised... Brutus: So I had to watch them on the radio!

What’s Brutus complaining about? Helen Keller never got to see nor listen to a ball game.

I listen to the TV more than I watch it – I find the radio too intrusive. Ok, I’m weird and proud of it.

I heard greatest sports moments on the radio, in June 1993 by Tom Cheek...Joe has had his moments. Trying to lay off that ball, low to the outside part of the plate, he just went after one. Two balls and two strikes on him. Here’s the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN IT! The Blue Jays are World Series Champions as Joe Carter hits a three run home run in the ninth inning and the Blue Jays have repeated as World Series Champions! Touch em’ all Joe! You’ll never hit a bigger home run in your life!

With Vin Scully and Jerry Doggett the Dodger games were as good on radio as they were on TV. With those two broadcasting the game you “saw” every bit of the action!

I remember going to Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh with my church youth group to see the Pirates play. They always won when we were there.

To me, my baseball announcer was Ernie Harwell. Tigers games just aren’t the same without his voice doing the play by play. Many times I turned the TV sound off and listened to the radio while watching a game.

Loved listening to the Mets and Yankee games growing up when I wasn’t at the stadium.

I am so glad that I spent my youth not watching a single game on TV, or on the radio, or in person. Spectator sports to me is as exciting as watching paint dry. I spent the time hiking in the woods, fishing by the river and playing games with my brother that used our imagination.
