As a small business owner, Obama care lowered my monthly health care premiums thus far by allowing more competition to come into Ohio and sell insurance. The Health Care Insurance Lobby is the problem with double digit increases every year in premium costs while physician’s, get less each year for the same procedure. I’d take what they have in any other industrialized nation over our system.

I can the thread on this strip becoming very large and getting very nasty. Nothing riles up the masses like this subject. Everyone seems to have an opinion that they parrot from their favorite pundit on the subject, while the rest of us who live with chronic conditions, that cost us thousands of dollars a year suffer, the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes, and the right still thinks that trickle down economics works miracles. When the FACTS show that it doesn’t and never will because when you give greedy people more money, the tend to to hoard it in their investment accounts, so the only trickle is to some other fat cat Wall Street type. Yeah the Republicans have it all figured out…

The sad part is that this country is divided 50-50 and nothing will ever get done. Nothing.

I see this comic as a commentary on what the food police in this nation are doing right now…….“No, you can’t have salt on that”. Raiding people’s home to confiscate the raw milk they bought from the natural food store. Raiding people’s farms and killing their pigs if the pigs are the color of the feral pigs which the state just passed a law about….I could go on.

I heard the best idea ever for healthcare, since the liberals are saying so many people support it. The idea went something like this.

Anyone who wants it, can sign up stating they want it and support it. Then when it comes to raising taxes to pay for it, the government ONLY taxes those who said they wanted it, as much as needed to pay for it. Those who didn’t sign up for it, don’t pay a dime for it, the funding comes 100% from those who wanted it. Thus its like creating a whole new healthcare plan, across all states that anyone can opt in or out of. Both sides should be happy with this arrangement, it leaves those who don’t want it out of the picture and lets those who want it to have their cake too. Its a win win for both sides. Now if those that want it have funding problems, then it just goes to show they’d have funding problems no matter what and it will never work.

I bet there wouldn’t be much support for the healthcare bill in the end.

angelfiredragon, that’s a bit daft. It’s like saying soldiers should be the only ones to pay taxes to support the military. Or astronauts should be the ones to support manned space flight. Or maybe everything should be donation based like a charity. You live in a nice country and you pay a little bit in taxes and you agree with some things the government does and not others. Welcome to reality…

But back to the comic – I wouldn’t be surprised if the insurance companies went this route. Maybe ‘hey, these tests show that you had too much salt in your diet so we won’t pay for your hypertension treatment’. It’s probably in the fine print somewhere!

What’s the difference. The insurance company has no intention of paying a claim no matter what.
