Opal says in one strip she’s two years older than Pearl, making her 69.It makes sense, cos Nelson is supposed to be around kindergarten age…Than again, Earl and both women look (and act ) 85, instead of only a couple of years too old to be called baby boomers. The strip wouldn’t be as funny if they were more realistically portrayed…The actual 69-year-olds I know are more likely to be Rolling Stones fans, drive a retro car on purpose, and say “cool” instead of “dagnabbit”.
I know of a older woman who is 80 and very active she does not look 80 more like 70. She had a hip replacement and back surgery from a pinch nerve and she and a friend to country dancing. My mom is 87 she likes to walk short distances and stays on the go. She does look her age. When she does not feel good she acts it. She had one surgery should have happened when she was 65 or 70 and had it last year. Doing fine.
Remember this: Today, you’re older than you’ve ever been before, and you’re younger than you’ll ever be again. Then again, that is one depressing thought. So forget it!
Susan Sunshine: With me, 70s is almost like it used to be. I am 79, which makes me over a year older than Wilfred Brimley, three days older than Willie Nelson, and I think a few hours older than Carol Burnet. I play trombone in a community band, a community chamber band, and accompany hymns on Sunday. I drive an ’08 Prius, and avoid both “cool” and “dagnabbit”. Despite banged up knees from an idiot who thought 50+mph was the proper speed to run red lights in downtown Dallas, I can still backpack and kayak surf. I also design tabletop role-playing games. I wonder what the ’80s will be, and where I fit in with these dumb stereotypes..

Naturally_easy.. Or vice versa… Earl could be ten years younger.. But I thought they once said they were the same age.
In any case… 70-ish isn’t like it used to be.

Stick with it a while longer and you may feel like you’re only 60.

Yoga is for anyone who has the fortitude to practice it, much like Tai Chi.

When anyone asks, I tell them I was too young to be a Beatnik and too old to be a Hippie or a Yuppie.

I’m 62, but after attending a friend’s yoga class I feel like a 72 year old!
