    …and so it began.

    Discovery did a special on the latest findings concerning self-domestication. It seems that the wolves with the lowest approach-flight perimeter are the ones that decide to stay with humans. It appears that this characteristic displays itself as dog-like behavior after only a very few generations…

    There has been a study on canine domestication involving fox that has been going on for several generations in Russia. I don’t remember the particulars but in the last generation or two there have actually been a few fox that are born completely domesticated. I know that the approach-flight perimeter, as mentioned by Rhad, plays an important role.
