Back in the prehistoric days (1966, IIRC), relievers for the Baltimore Orioles actually pulled such a stunt on the bullpen of the (then) KC Athletics. Oriole pitcher picked up his bullpen phone, somehow got the KC bullpen to answer, and barked, “Get Krause hot!”, referring to KC’s closer. So the bullpen coach got him up and throwing. A little later came the call, “Sit him down!” This happened at least three times before the KC dugout called out to the bullpen to ask why the H they were playing games with their ace reliever.
