That is so touching..Burl made the flag so……. so…. untouchable.
(sniffle)
Proudly waving in the bre.e…. wait…no, it will never wave again.Oh well…. who needs waving, anyway.
What we need is indestructibility and cost effectiveness.
Ok….. time for a great big “Happy 4th of July morning!” to everyone in Crustwood!" May your fireworks be spectacular, your chicken not too dry or too greasy, and your watermelon sweet.
And if you live in the Midwest, please eat a few ears of genuine yellow sweet corn for me….all I can find around here is pale, insipid white stuff.
And if this heat makes Jerry, or any of this crew, show up at the fireworks show in skimpy attire, just remember….Marg and I will be selling brain bleach in handy 16 oz cups from a booth along the parade route….
Happy Birthday, CWoodians! What a great day! What does it mean that Burl has “4-ever free” printed across his butt? Is this the CW meaning of gas fracking? In that case, shouldn’t those Chinese/Japanese lanterns be extinguished?
Happy 4th, everyone. Hmm, flying the flag over your pool, that’s a novel idea. Guess that’s why he had to laminate, didn’t want it messing up their skinny dipping later (BRAIN BLEACH)!
Actually, it will be used as a giant place mat later on. If they’re going to fly it at night, they will need to light the lanterns. American flag etiquette says the flag needs at least one light to shine on it if it’s to be displayed after dark. Happy 4th, everyone and stay cool!
To all…. Happy “Independence Day”…. the day the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. The first public reading was July 8 and the official signing ceremony was on August 2….. (Had to brush up a bit to get these facts straight)…. Today’s Dinette Set is a good reminder to go put up thy flag …. ! ! !
I have never seen any virtue in patriotism. It seems to me that its only utility is to make us feel good about going to war, and thus it is highly fostered and promoted by those who depend upon convincing otherwise sensible people that it is a good idea to kill and be killed.
In my lifetime, there have been almost no years when we have not been warring and killing. I should feel patriotic and revere our flag over that? I think not.
I’d much prefer no flags and no killing. Screw these “patriotic” holidays.
@ acesover You should take pride in the freedoms you enjoy, the economic opportunity that has benefitted so many and all the cultural contributions this nation has made to humanity.

Of course, being who they are, they will later use it as a table cloth.

Hey! The flag hjas 13 stripes-what did you do with the two missing stripes, Burl?
acesover over 12 years ago
Burl lost two stripes in the lamination process, his flag only has 11. Either that or he bought it at Big Lots.
