I’m all for celebrating our independence, but why does every little town have to have its’ own fireworks display? Couldn’t some of that money be better spent on another teacher or police officer or fireman? Not sure the “Founding Fathers” would approve. Not that they would approve of much else that’s happening these days.
Heavy ack-ack expected…take evasive action…remain at ground level until the attitude changes…around here they don’t stop shooting and shooting off until maybe Bastille Day.
And start in the last two weeks of June. Not too many people are “patriotic” by my definition…ie, working for better politics and better government…but hey! lighting matches and letting the nerves react is a LOT easier and cheaper. Besides it’s only once in a while…etc.
Neb: you can blame insurance costs, too. Ours was canceled a couple years back when they couldn’t get affordable coverage. The American nightmare, sometimes.
i heard somebody got mad at a neighbor here for tossing ’works into the back yard. #6 shot at 40 feet messes up a lotta windows really quick. no more 2a.m. firecrackers
If your community allows fireworks tonight, be very happy. In Middle Tennessee, where I live, there is a ban, not just on fireworks, but on all open fires, because it is so dry. Also, the heat is doing a job on killing off the outdoors party mood.

In their day, only the Native Americans lived here. Whatever they called themselves then, no one knows.

Who is the greater fool, the one who voluntarily plunks down a fee to make a target of himself or the one who hands him the parasail?
