Trust and Lila is an oxymoron… LLLLLLooooosers. Well. She tried to climb her Mount Everest and has failed.. he tried to learn how to do that upright walk thing and failed. Where to go? Back to slobbery-boss and Drew preaching to the deaf?
I knew it probably would come to this, but it’s sad to me, now that it’s happening. Aww. But better he call it off than she break his heart I suppose. Now Lila doesn’t have him or his mother’s cash. Maybe it WILL be pretty hard for Lila. Aww.
I think he’s handling the situation just fine. Lila did fool around behind his back – not cool at all. But how strange that any conversation about sex has never come up between them during this entire time…Their whole relationship (if you want to call it that) was just weird and superficial, but hey – I’ve seen plenty of relationships like that survive and even thrive, so who’s to say it wouldn’t have worked for them? Regarding the ring, it depends on each state’s law. In some states, if the woman breaks the engagement she is expected to relinquish the ring.
Excuse me, but when did this happen? I remember the 6/29 strip where Annie paid Mrs. Henley to tell Matthew that that Lila had an overnight male guest, but I don’t recall it actually happening. For reasons of her own, Annie’s trying to break them up.
Normally, in many media (fiction of course), the “expensive” rings, bought by rich people, are the ones called back no matter who does the break up. Otherwise, it’s either the woman feeling guilty or the dude saying it’s OK she keeps the ring. So I feel this scenario is more of the Dr. being a bit cheap.

Funny how Annie puts that face on when she was the one who indirectly spilled the beans. Though I also wonder why the neighbor didn’t do it before.

I would expect that the person who breaks off the engagement is the one who gives up the ring.

Did he expect her to be a virgin as well? That’s my guess.Keep the ring, sweetie!

You cheat you lose (the ring). Although the point here is that Annie is helping Lila avoid making the mistake of marrying him.

Annie had no business interfering or getting someone to help her do it.

Anytime an engagement is broken, whoever is the initiator, the ring should be returned, in my opinion.

Legally you can’t get the ring back, it was a gift, not a promissory note. (Doesn’t anybody else read Ann Landers?)

Too bad, Lila, you should have taken his mom’s last offer.
