It is sad that so many households no longer live on one income and raise their own kids. I think people were truly happier when they didn’t need so much stuff and knew how to wait and save.

@alcors3 there is no US state in which a person making minimum wage can afford a 1 bedroom apt. If they have a family it’s even worse, with most jobs only available in the service industry that only pay minimum wage…well unfortunately it takes 2 incomes.

I might agree with the greed part of your statement, but the part of your statement concerning the women’s movement is just ignorant and pathetic.

If you want to blame the women’s movement….then you must also blame Hitler and the Japanese. Shame on the women for keeping the country running during WW2. When the war was over and the men came back…women were expected to go back to our lives of service in the home. Can you really blame women for enjoying the very same independence that men have had for centuries?Deregulation and greed have gotten us to this point my dear, not women. Women are not the ones in charge are we. No……that would be the greedy rich people who cut jobs and treat their workers no better that cattle so they can get their millions in bonuses.

First they hint of a nice nest-egg by suggesting they take some time off to travel the world, then they are worried about affording groceries. Color me befuddled.
