FYI: Christian Clergy did not wear pants until the Protestant Reformation. John Paul II was the first pope to wear trousers—they were white velvet and worn under his robes. Blue jeans and a t-shirt have not been the only proper wear for men through-out history, in fact modern menswear is only about 150 years old. For most of history they wore “dresses”.
You mean tunics, and/or robes. Also the doublet and hose, but the doublet was rather short and hose were necessary to keep from freezing. It makes me laugh when certain ultraconservative groups complain about women in trousers “dressing like men.” For thousands of years both men and women wore robes, ie dresses, and there was no real difference in shape or cut.
