Defuse is for bombs and situations (says the paramedic in me). Diffuse is a word I’ve used to describe lighting, for example — diffuse light is softer, vs. bright sunshine.
This reminds me of a story I heard from a friend regarding her teacup yorkie. She wouldn’t even let him in the back yard without a leash, and good thing. One evening an owl swooped in, grabbed him and tried to fly off. She had to reel in the yorkie and owl to save the dog.

Calvin would go for the propeller instead; his Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs beanie didn’t make him fly.

I guess if i can believe in all the things Lio does, and a flying cat, I can believe he lassoed cybil without cutting the rope

Actually, if Cybil wiggled a bit that lasso would come right off; looks that way in panel 3, anyway.

I’m pleased enough that Lio knows the word and knows how to spell nefarious.

Man the ropeing teams would love this kind of target practice. It’s tough snagging horns and the back legs at the same instant.
