I thought it was ink. Colorist must have gotten confused.

Did he steal the hot dog? They said that they were broke……

Cantu & Castellanos drew it in complete black and white, so blood red would be mostly black in that art form. Go Comics comes along and fills in any white with color, (except eyes, the shirt stripe and the word balloons), and doesn’t bother to paint over the black that should be red on the larger gentleman. Gotta love the GoComics colorizers. They mustave worked with Ted Turner, too.

Go Comics does the coloring – i didn’t know that. Explains why colorization is different when my newspaper has color comics.

Looks like he bit into an ink pen.
