It took Michelangelo four years to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. (Good thing it didn’t need a second coat). It only took Flo about four seconds to paint Andy.

There was a time where Andy used to get off his lazy butt and help around the house.

    Look out, Andy!

Same here. Sometimes I am unable to find my OWN comments with the massive images.

And that’s good to hear about the start of the roof. Is Flickr similar to Photobucket?

As for the ‘Dagwood Capp’ strip. I loved it too. People on here have true talent!

I look at everybody’s childhood photos on the Frog Blog. I love them all. So sweet.

    From the British Cartoon Archive:

In 1957 Reg Smythe was asked to create a cartoon series for the northern edition of the Daily Mirror. The result was “Andy Capp”, a flat-capped, pigeon-fancying, work-shy character, who first appeared on Monday, 5 August 1957. Smythe never revealed the inspiration for Andy, but it was widely assumed to be his father, who separated from his mother before the war. Smythe may have been reluctant to confirm this because Andy was a drunken wife-beater. In this early cartoon, published on 20 August 1957, Andy bluntly explains to Flo that one of his pleasures “‘appens to be knockin’ yer about.” Smythe later said that this “was a dreadful cartoon and it was terribly naive of me to have done it,” but there were no objections at the time, and in 1958 it was the opening cartoon in the first “Andy Capp” album. In the same year “Andy Capp” spread to all editions of the Daily Mirror, and then became a strip, being regularly voted Best Strip Cartoon of the Year from 1961 onwards. But it was not until the following year that Smythe stopped making jokes about Flo’s being beaten if she showed independence. By the time of Smythe’s death in 1998, “Andy Capp” was syndicated to 1,700 newspapers in 52 countries, but its violent origins were hard to forget. “Oh, Andy Capp”, Homer Simpson said approvingly in an episode of The Simpsons from 1993, “You wife-beating drunk.”
