Fifi is trying to get the attention of Rex the Wonder Dog ( we wonder if he’s really a dog ) who she saw while getting her wonderful tint job at a very well known Ballard St. beauty emporium. Any guesses which one ?

Wow, the street is almost deserted…. I guess everybody’s in bed…nobody up early early on a Saturday morning …

Well, except Fifi and Florence.Florence gets up really early for their walks, just so she doesn’t have to be so embarrassed by Fifi’s….. um…display. You’re right, Bev — she doesn’t care WHAT she shows…. or, apparently, to whom.

Anyway, I guess I’ll head straight over to the salon and get some more sleep…That wedding hair job last night wiped me out…mothers and brides! Aaggghhh!

After I took the picture I showed you guys of Myra, her Mom decided it needed more hair showing, so it didn’t look like a hat….. and it needed to be taller…and it needed pearls, for heaven’s sake….I think that made it look a bit much…. don’t you?

Marg — the lion is beautiful!I suppose you’ve seen all those online pictures of watermelons carved into exquisite cameos and sculptures…It amazes me.Along with the beautiful, there are some funny ones, too.

Oh …. and Bev — Thanks for the heads up, but no worries about my extensions. The stolen ones were all real hair.Yuck!Mine are all fine synthetics made totally of petrochemicals, for that sparkling look we love. The best are from X Tech Industries, right here on Ballard St….the color-changing ones are pretty pricey, but the effect is magnificent!

BTW, Little Miss Millie High Maintenance is her stage name (although why she chose such a long name that’ll never fit on a marquee I’ll never know), and she is known as Fifi to friends, family and close associaties.

Good Golly Miss Molly (aka: Gigi)

Take care of yourself. Way too many people getting banged up around here. None of us is as young as we used to be – we just think we are. Heal quickly, my friend.

What ? Sunday morning and no one’s astir on Ballard Street yet ? Well, I can understand, what with heat and all. I’d take my galleon, The Irish Rover, out for a sail but there’s no wind. Heck, there’s no breeze. Thank goodness for the air-conditioning in the Conch House. Guess it’ll be another day of laying IN the pool and sipping on Hurricanes. Anybody wants to join me, they’re welcome.

Can I still stop by? I had to leave the comics suddenly right after the new strips came out last night….and by now everybody has gone home.

But I can usually find a few convivial souls on Ballard St, thank heavens.

Some ice cream sounds lovely, Bev!

Strawberry Chocolate chip…oooh…. with maybe a little chocolate syrup and a (largish) dash of….hmmm…Creme de Cacao?

Wow… Every month should be Ice Cream Month….. and every day should be Ice Cream Day!

    Thank you, Beviek!

OK, OK….. you don’t have to eat ice cream, if it’s below, say, 30 deg…or even if you just don’t want any….You never have to eat ice cream at all…I just like the idea of having an excuse when I DO want to…“Why yes, I am having seconds, actually. It’s difficult, but it IS National Ice Cream Day, you know.”

Every time I tried to come here today, I was interrupted…couldn’t even get a “hello” in! Then, I just spent several hours with a sick friend, so now, I’m too beat to say much more than hello, hope you’ve all had a great weekend and I’ll catch up tomorrow! I can see that Monday on Ballard St. will be at least a double shift for me! Have a great evening, everyone, and save some ice cream and Hurricanes for me!

Bev — I’m all for it!

Brownie Week, Yakburger Day, pudding month….oooh Snickerdoodle Sunday, the 1st Sunday of every month!

Banana Cream Pie Day, Peanut Butter Month….We could avoid criticism by having something healthy, like…. um…. February could be Homemade Chicken Soup Month…And every other Thursday could be Broccoli day…nah, no it couldn’t.

Meanwhile, if you don’t mind, I’ll skip anything with artificial fruit flavoring for my Sunday sundae, like Jellybelly or Orange Crush….. or especially choke…. gag… sorry root beer..

But toasted marshmallow sounds good — remember your ice cream’s already got real strawberries and chocolate chips…mmm…
