    A bit disappointed with your post today.You had promised dropping in, on both feet with a sledgehammer the next time the prospect of political controversy was raised, and was expecting same!

    Took a needed break from reality last night by dipping into my stash of booze, kept handy for use when just such breaks from reality are needed by me, and recommend same to other posters when controversy arises.Have returned, refreshed, and ready for more posts.

    Today’s strip seems to give a green light to posts with political content. Will proceed, with caution.Linguist mentioned Tampa, and the great explosion of hot air about to erupt from that locale.What environmental catastrophe may we expect when said hot air rises above Tampa, and collides with the hurricane possibly arriving on the scene?Plenty of job security for environmentalists in the wake of such a possible collision.There is a rumor of Hurricane Joe Biden arriving in the vicinity of reep convention to counter eruptions of hot air into the atmosphere, and help to avert the need for any more federal money having to be spent to clean up the mess of such a collision of hot air with a hurricane.Please ,Lord, see that Joe is successful in his attempt, as there is not enough in Federal coffers to cover cleanup costs, and am living on Campbell’s pork and beans as it ,is, with a weekly splurge at McDonald’s (BigMac,…..yes, with fries!), and can’t afford to spring for any higher taxes to pay for such cleanups.

    Good grief, can things get any worse, not needing any more foul bovine greenhouse gases belching forth by reeps (high methane content)rising into the atmosphere?Live in a liberal-leaning state, and prefer the air above my state to not have any more pollution dumped into the atmosphere!Good Lord, there is enough methane up there, what with the local radio station featuring a right-wing drive-time host kicking things off at 5 A.M. with right-wing rants, and continuing non-stop all day (other right-wing hosts,Limbaugh, Hannity,etc.).The only refuge is Coast to Coast AM,and right wing guests appear there, too, sometimes. No rest for the weary.Thank God for handy on/off switches installed on all electronic devices to combat this assault on our sensibilities.For God"s sake, this is a liberal-leaning state!

    Also, deeply resent the fact that we peasants pay a higher tax rate than General Electric and other blue-ribbon job creators (in China, Singapore, India, etc.) while reep picks use every means (legal, but not ethical) available to (rather UNpatriotically) avoid paying (income)taxes.Sure, they pay taxes (property taxes, state and Federal sales taxes, etc.), but what about INCOME taxes?reep pick refuses to release his tax records. Has released 1 year’’s taxes, neatly omitting the release of a REQUIRED form , reporting foreign holdings. Patriotic, this?Barbara Boxer says she has posted a space to address this matter, by searching:Tell Mitt Rmoney-Release Your Tax Returns!Flags in cartoon seem to be native flags, so let’s not all do as the lemmings do.

    Notice that the “lemmings” are in black and white…as if they see things as opposites rather than subtle shades. Either that, or they are rendered without a real life.

    I have long believed that we have become a nation of mindless lemmings and parrots, blindly following the ideology de jour and spewing out the vocabulary of the damned.There is absolutely no rational thinking on either of the extreme wings of the political parties and damned little in the center. Civil discourse has become an oxymoron. Polite debate with well-reasoned logic and argument is now impossible. The standard reply is : " I’ve made up my mind already so don’t try to confuse me with facts . "

    Hate the idea of paying nearly 30% while General Electric pays no taxes after application of tax lawyers, loopholes, big “donations”, lobbyists, etc. while shipping jobs overseas.Has been speculated that big R hasn’t been exactly forthcoming in reporting his earnings, as it might reveal to the Mormon church that he hasn’t really tithed 10% of his income to the church, thus exposing him as a hypocrite.Big R?Used to remind me of Roadway Express(now merged with another freight outfit).Will try to think of him as Daddy Big Buck from now on.Kinda liked seeing big R’s rigs on the interstates.

    @Night-Gaunt49 (previous post)

    It’s worse than (a secret?) they all share.reeps want him out because he’s drawing attention to TRUE reep agendas, and they don’t want the cat let out of the bag until AFTER the election,giving them 4 years to work with to completely obliterate any trace of progressive policies.Will not reveal the poster, but saw one of our foreign posters in another online blog refer to “such backwaters as the U.S”. with regard to disgraceful healthcare exclusions here.This is how a good part of the world perceives us, and we need join the rest of the civilised world to polish our image. Any honest Englishman perceives us the same way. Notice the great tribute paid to their National Health Service at the opening of the Olympics, after the Queen parachuted in? Love the Queen, by the way.And reep "personhood’ views. Look out ladies, reeps get in, and personhood is declared at the moment of the sperm meeting the egg.Thusly, murder of a (person?).No abortions permitted, OR ELSE.

    I’ve been reading a history of Turkey immediately after WWI. The Young Turks stated their intentions to so impoverish the population that the people would put up with anything. Exactly the agenda of the elephants and their mega-rich masters. No wonder the repubs want to keep the military rich. They expect it will be necessary to slaughter parts of the population to “maintain order”.

    Reminds me of two facts: (1) to keep Ron Paul supporters from being seen on national network TV, the GOP moved the vote nominating Mitt Romney up from Wednesday to Monday, and (2) Hurricane Isaac (as it’s expected to be) is scheduled to hit Tampa Monday night. Bottom line: The GOP would rather face a natural disaster than be embarrassed on TV.

    The cartoon made me sad. I remembered the republican congressman who said his idea of bipartisanship was them(Democrats) voting his way. Some very good people, moderate republicans, lost to folks who have promised not to compromise. I doubt John Warner (Va-R) or even Ronald Reagan could be elected by this ‘modern’ republican party. Respectfully,C.
