Twist Twist Twist Twist Twist Twist Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin Spin That was awesome! What's awesome is there someone who actually gets paid to test this at the swingset company!
We had a bag swing (gunny sack filled with straw) attached to a tall tree on the creek bank- great fun. Years later I made a tire swing for my kids- it attracted all the neighborhood kids who had never seen one. All those fun things are now considered by many as too dangerous!
Our swing back on the farm consisted of an old hay rope and a 2×12 for a seat and was about 20 ft. long. You can twist ropes a LOT more than chains and REALLY get to spinning! Wow! Then try to walk away. LOL
Too scary when I do something one day and it appears on Red & Rover the next day. Tomorrow y’all should see Red swinging on a rubber tire and landing in a pond.
Reminds me of a large double-seater porch swing that was attached to a high limb on an old oak tree in a vacant yard. Four of us would get together, two of us would twist the other two around as high as we possibly could and stand back as the porch swing would untwirl like crazy. We called it the ‘Cannonball Run’ for whatever reason, but there has never been a ride at the fair that came close to that in my opinion. Fun times. My parents would have killed me if they had known.

Used to love that game – we had a 40 foot swing and you could REALLY get those chains wound up!

Our chain swings had wooden boards for seats and just dirt (or mud) under your feet. No such things today :(

Did people say “awesome” like that in the ’60s?

Yet again another fond memory bestowed upon us to reflect upon. Great stuff.

Forgot that I used to do this too, lol. My Dad also hung a rope swing in our yard which was fun
