Ooooooooops! I entered this just now on yesterdays page. So here I go again..My mother told a story about me when I was 3 yr old. In 1944 she set me at the soda counter at Woolworth Five & Dime while she stepped a few feet away to pay the utility bills (you could do that during WWII). When she came back I was chewing gum. “Where did you get gum?”, she asked. Gum was a rare item in that day and time. Calmly I replied, “You want some? There is more here under the counter.”Needless to say, I never was left alone at the soda counter again.
