    “Flip-flopping” is not necessarily a bad thing. Changing one’s mind is their right. In the case of politicians it would help if the change is accompanied by an explanation such as saying, "I see where it was wrong to sign the Norquist Pledge since it is leading the country down the wrong road and to fiscal ruin.

    I forget who said this, but the day “politician” became a career choice is the day we lost the republic.

    Flip-flopper DOESN’T refer to simply changing your mind. It means someone who changes his opinions according to his current audience. His “stance” or take on a subject changes with each change of the audience listening to him speak. It no longer has its original meaning of “changing your mind”. It has broadened in the political sense of the word.
